Abstract (EN)

The data obtained from World Health Organization indicates that the number of elderly population will be five times more than current elderly population in the next thirty years. Therefore, countries are forming new regulations in order to provide better health care for their citizens and to strengthen the structure of their health services. The development of technologies in the field of health increases the demand for this kind of services every day since people's length of life is in direct proportion with their healthy living. Health tourism consists of the mobility occurring as a result of travels people take in order to remedy their health or to live a healthier life. And health mobility finds itself an important role as a sector in trade. Antalya tourism region which hosts approximately thirteen million tourists every year has a strong suit as a destination in terms of health tourism as well due to its infrastructure and high transportation opportunities. The present study aims at analyzing the health tourism potential, health centers, patients and health tourism sector's representatives of Antalya tourism region and bringing forth the existing potential through by assessing the situation. In this scope, destination has been analyzed from the perspective of Turkey, and medical tourism in Turkey and across the world has been evaluated; additionally, some suggestions have been put forward to increase and improve health tourism potential in Turkey.
