Health pre-licence midwifery department an observation about the students attitude towards the occupation

ABSTRACTHEALTH PRE-LICENCE MIDWIFERY DEPARTMENT-ANOBSERVATION ABOUT THE STUDENT?S ATTITUDE TOWARDS THEOCCUPATIONSENEM KAYACIThis observation report, tries to explain following points of interests ofmidwifery final grade students; socio-demographic aspects, the reasons for choosingthe department and their point of view which covers the understanding of theiroccupation.The sample of the observation covers all 575 of the students who are studyingin 20 health pre-licence programmes. First part of the collected data containsdescriptive information. On the second part, Rosenberg Conceipt Respectivemeasurement is used. When evaluating the observation datas, SPSS 10,0 statisticspacket has been used.When identifying studying sample of students, the results show the socio-demographic features as; 46.1% lived in a city until 12 years old, mothers of 63.8%and fathers of 59.8% of the students graduated from a primary school, mothers of8.7% and fathers of 34.9% don?t work, and parents of 83.0% graduated from a highschool. 42.1% of the students preferred this department as 11th choice or higher;29.2% of the students preferred this department not to be without a work, 27.1% ofthe students preferred this department as their own choice.
