Evaluation of videonystagmography findings in healthy subjects

Abstract (EN)
Videonystagmography is one of the important tests which evaluatesvestibular system and shows whether the lesion is central or peripheric.The aim of this study is to determine the normative data of VNG test in Gazi University Audiology Department and also to determine the incidence of spontoneus nystagmus, abnormalities of saccadic and pursuit eye movement, optoknetic asymmetry in healty subjects.Fourty normal cases were included in the study. All subjects were wanted to fill-up the questionnaires before the tests and then they were taken under the audiologic evaluations and VNG tests.None of the subjects had spontane and positional nystagmus after the evaluations.We found a statistically significant difference between males and females ın terms of FI values in caloric test.We found a statistically significant difference between group I and group II in terms of FI and slow phase velocity of post caloric nystagmus in caloric test.Saccadic latency value were 126,45 ± 27,68 msn (67?187 msn) for right eye abd, 128,23 ± 27,2 0msn (76?197 msn) for right eye add, 134,40 ± 23,38msn (72?178 msn) for left eye abd, 134,53 ± 29.15 msn (82?203 msn) for left eye add. Gain values for tracking test were 0,89 ± 0,15 for right eye and 0,87 ± 0,15 for left eye at 0,1 Hz, 0,91 ± 0,12 for right eye and 0,89 ± 0,13 for left eye at 0,2 Hz, 0,90 ± 0,13 for right eye and 0,88 ± 0,19 left eye at 0,4 Hz. Phase values for tracking test were 3,06 ± 3,34 right eye and 3,49 ± 3,91 for left eye at 0,1 Hz, 8,28 ± 5,86 for right eye and 7,33 ± 4,27 for left eye at 0,2 Hz, 15,28 ± 6,91 for right eye and 14,10 ± 7,06 for left eye at 0,4 Hz. Gain values for optokinetic test were 0,66 ± 0,34 (0?1,13) for right eye and 0,69 ± 0,30 (0?1,21) for left eye at TN, 0,73 ± 0,24 (0?1,19) for right eye and 0,62 ± 0,34 (0?1,18) for left eye at NT. Asymmetry index values for optokinetic test were 0,48 ± 0,21 (0?1,00) for right eye, 0,56 ± 0,22 (0?1,00) for left eye. Canal paresis (CP) value for caloric test was %16,92 ± 11,99 (1?41). Directional preponderance (DP) value for caloric test was %18,72 ± 13,60 (1?52). Fixation index values for caloric test were 31,82 ± 27,97 (1?119) for right ear and 49,33 ± 46,09 (3?182) for left ear with warm stimulation, 50,46±36,39 (0?209) for right ear and 61.46 ± 60,95 (12?262) for left eye with cool stimulation.
