Analysis of emotional intelligence and reasoning ability in healthy right-handed and left-handed young people

Object: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationships between emotional intelligence, reasoning ability, and lateralization in healthy right- and left-handed, male and female individuals. Materials and Methods: Our study consisted of students from Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Health Sciences. Our volunteer group consists of 18 to 40 years old, 25 left-handed women, 24 left-handed men and 26 right-handed men,27 right-handed women students. As a data collection tool, the Lateralization Questionnaire, the Revised Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale and the SPM scale found in the Psychotechnical Vienna Test System battery were used in the study. The data obtained from the scales were obtained with the SPSS-22 statistical program. Result: The reasoning ability of the male participants was higher than the female participants (p<0.05). There was a negative significant relationship between lateralization scores and emotional intelligence scores in female participants (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that the reasoning ability of men is higher than that of women, men and the fact that men use visual-spatial intelligence and logical-mathematical intelligence in the first place.
