The analysis about the role of state in performing arts

In this study, in order to shed light on the correct understanding of the role of the state in the field of performing arts in the world and in Turkey and the elimination of the deficiencies and problems in the approaches to state and market comparisons; multi-dimensional definition of performing arts and performing arts economy and examining the situations that require state intervention in art are included. At the same time, comparisons have been made between various countries in order to better understand the role of the state in the field of performing arts, its presentation and education and in general, the problems in the field of performing arts in Turkey and the solution proposals that could solve these problems were mentioned. The performing arts field may be exposed to the policies of the state such as supporting and intervening by supporting. However, while providing this support, the state should aim to encourage art instead of interfering with art and using it for its own purposes. In the light of the theoretical approaches in the relevant sections, in the research in which the dimensions of the relationship between the performing arts and the state were examined, the necessity of state support was especially emphasized. Along with the reasons that require state intervention due to market inefficiency, art education, which is another form of intervention in which the state can direct art, has been mentioned. The performing arts structure of countries such as Turkey, the USA, France and the Netherlands, the activities of the most important performing arts institutions, the collaborations between art and educational institutions and their effects on both education and art are examined.
