Women behaviors in quranic parables with regard to personality training

In parables, female personalities are mostly not protagonists. Yet, the characters of these personalities are distinctively noted. The Qur'an emphasizes human aspects of all personalities including prophets in narration of parables, giving chance for mankind to find practices regarding their own lives. As the object of the divine order, man has been held responsible for glorifying his personality, which has maintained its continuity with the studies on personality. It is experienced that character, temperament and habit that are among the related concepts of personality, constitute the personality itself with both its concrete and open to change forms. Parables are described basically in the narrative method that prioritizes guidance, in order people to take various lessons from those who display positive and negative behaviors. The female personalities in the parables are mainly distinguished by their examples of positive and negative behaviors. However, there are some female characters who emphasize the changing and transforming dynamic side of the personality as a result of their behaviors in the parables. These personality types detailed in the parables are expressed by the reflections of the basic character traits that emerge as a result of man having a dual nature. Several female figures in parables are included in our study. Women with titles such as mother, spouse, sibling and manager provided the opportunity for individuals to identify with today's female roles with emphasis on their human aspects.
