Abstract (EN)

Due to Turkeys? geological features, topographic structure and climate characteristics, Turkey is one of the countries that is exposed to natural diseasters. Besides the life loss, natural diseasters causes economical losses too.Development plans are documents including plots that shows landuse, conservation and constraint decisions, organization and implementation principles to constitute alternative solutions for urban settlement and development tendency by using economical, demographic, social, cultural, historical, physical feature surveys. The aim of these plans are to increase the life standarts, to meet social and cultural needs and to constitute a healthy and secure environment for the citizens. The success of development plans dependson morphological, geological, hydrological, geotechnical, geophysical and seismtectonics study reports in addition to other planning criterias. The importance of these studies have been realized more precisely after the 17 August 1999 Izmit Gulf Earthquake and the 12 November 1999 The Düzce Earthquake. The studies have been prepared according to 17/08/1987, 1634 numbered mandat. The aim of these studies are to determine the parameters of construction design and to investigate the morpholigical, geological, hydrological, geotechnical and geophysical identities of the site and to interpret these data before planning process to decide if the site is suitable for settlement or not.The study parameters include 66 ground boring studies, 40 seismic refraction studies, 30 DES studies and 20 microtremor studies. The samples that are gained by the boring studies are examined for its stringent and stiffness features. Seismic studies are made to determine the ground dynamic elastic parameters. Microtremor measurements were made to increase data variety and ground enlargement rates(Ta, Tb) shown by using ground ruling vibration period (To). After all these studies and results in addition to other conditions, the regions? settlement suitability have been produced.
