The bio-ecology of Laridae family in Sakarya province in West of Black-Sea coast

Abstract (EN)

The city, Sakarya located in the west of Black Sea Region has got big watery areas and very long sandy beaches. This area is bio-ecologically suitable for the topic of my thesis. ?Laridae taxones. 9 taxon belonging to Laridae have been determined at the studies between the dates 19th of August, 2007 and 22nd of July, 2008 at Denizköy (Acarlar), Yenimahalle, Karasu Beach, Küçükboğaz, Kocaali Beach and Melenağzı. The numerical distribution of the taxones observed at these places has been defined as Larus cachinnans michahellis 2697, Larus ridibundus 3087, Larus canus 167, Larus fuscus 35, Larus atricapillus 1, Larus minutus 17, Larus genei 10, Larus philadelphia 8, Sterna hirundo 101.At the observation area, 1 local, 1 summer immigrant, 2 winter immigrant and 5 transit immigrant species have been found. The whole species recognized at these places are at the statue of Least Concern, namely they are caterogized as ?The species is not under danger?At the observation area, the dominant species is observed as Larus. ridibundus, and uncommon species is observed as Larus atricapillus. The numbers of indivuduals are defined as 2353 at Melenağzı, 565 at Kocaali, 250 at Küçükboğaz, 82 at Karasu Beach, 2873 at Yenimahalle. At Denizköy (Acarlar), there isn?t found any Laridae species. During this observation the followings have been observed; Melenağzı has similarities with all stations, except for Denizköy (Acarlar); Küçükboğaz and Kocaali Beach are the most similar stations and Denizköy (Acarlar) has no similarities with the other stations.
