Abstract (EN)
In this study, water samples were taken from 12 different regions in Sakarya for one year and trihalomethane (THM) levels were measured and for the purpose of interpreting the monthly amounts of trihalomethane free chlorine and total organic carbon (TOC) analyzes were performed. Chloroform and dibromochloromethane levels in Sakarya tap water were higher than other trihalomethanes. According to the measured amounts of trihalomethers, the risk of cancer was evaluated by oral, dermal and inhalation. According to the results of the cancer risk assessment, it was observed that the THMs taken orally were more likely to have a cancer risk than the THMs taken by other means. The risk analysis of dibromochloromethane, which is found in excess of the water in Sakarya water network, is more risky than other THMs. Cancer risk values are significantly higher than the value of USEFA 10-6. The highest THM and related cancer risk were observed from Serdivan Esentepe District.
