Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the dance self-efficacy of the Sakarya Universit State Conservatory students according to some variables. For this purpose, the general survey model was adopted in the research. The research group consisted of 229 students, 100 female, and 129 male, studying at Sakarya University State Conservatory in the 2023-2024 academic year. A personal information form and a "Dance Self-Efficacy Scale" were used as a data collection tool. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics were used to determine demographic characteristics, one-way ANOVA and independent sample t-test were used to calculate and compare mean scores in unrelated measures, and the LSD test was used to determine the difference between the groups. Within the scope of the data obtained from the study, it was determined that the gender variable and the status of playing or not playing an instrument were not predictors of the dance self-efficacy of the State Conservatory students. The dance self-efficacy of the students in the 27 and over age group was higher than the 21-23 age group, the students of the Turkish Folk Dance department were higher than the students in other departments, and the 4th-grade students were higher than the 3rd-grade students. In addition, it was observed that the dance self-efficacy of students who are interested in percussion instruments, who are interested in dance in their family or close environment, who have a dance history of at least one year or more, and who have gained stage experience is higher. As a result, it was noted that the dance self-proficiency of the State Conservatory students participating in the study was very high. Based on the research results, it can be suggested that projects and symposiums on dance be carried out to develop the dance self-efficacy of all students. In addition, in future studies, it may be recommended to examine the opinions of students by using qualitative research methods.
