Abstract (EN)

With the effect of globalization, local culture is gradually disappearing, leaving its place to the influence of popular culture. Although the rapidly modernizing world provides benefits to society, it also causes many negativities. As a result of modernization, the natural structure of cities loses their value and physical structure day by day. Natural resources, cultural structure, historical texture no longer constitute an attraction factor on cities. The Cittaslow movement was initiated in order to respond to the negative effects of globalization, which is rapidly spreading around the world, on small cities. In this study, which examines the effect of being a calm city on the destination of the local people living in Akyaka and Seferihisar cities, general information about the slow movement philosophy and the cittaslow movement is given in the first part of the study. In the second part, detailed information is given by scanning the literature on the concepts of destination and destination management. In the third part, the research design, interpretation of the findings and the conclusion part are included. In this thesis, mixed method was used to evaluate the effect of being a quiet city on the destination. A face-to-face survey was conducted between July and August 2020 in order to learn the thoughts of the local people living in the Akyaka neighborhood of Izmir's Seferihisar and Muğla's Ula district about the "Cittaslow" movement. The questionnaire form applied consists of two parts. In the first part, there are 8 questions about the demographic characteristics of the participant. In the second part, there are 37 closed-ended questions about the research. The survey data we obtained were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 package program. Non-parametric analyzes were used in the study since the variables were not normally distributed. The Mann Whitney U Test (MW) was used to find the difference between the two groups from the data we obtained in the study, and the Kruskal Wallis H-Test (KW) was used to find the difference between more than two groups. In the research, the interview method, which is a qualitative research method, was used in order to learn the opinions of experts, academicians, governorship, district governorship and local people in Muğla / Akyaka and İzmir / Seferihisar. 27 semi-structured interview forms were used as data collection tools. The interview records were analyzed with the MAXQDA 2020 package program to create a coding schedule under 4 main themes. There are 27 sub-themes in 4 main theme horses in the coding schedule.
