Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, three important mathematical notions, which were investigated in the first part of Kâmûs-ı Riyâziyyât which has ten parts (Mathematical Sciences Encyclopedia), have been analyzed. This Mathematical Sciences Encyclopedia, which was written in the Ottoman language has been done by Salih Zeki Bey, who was grown up in the 19. century. Salih Zeki Bey who was one of the last three mathematicians raised in the latest times of the Ottoman Empire, had made very precious studies for the recognition and application of Modern Mathematics. He was the first rector of today?s İstanbul University (Dârü?l-Fünûn). The three notions have been examined which are integration, infinitesimal quantities and epicycloid.
