THE MORPHOLOGICAL, ANATOMICAL AND KARYOLOGICALINVESTIGATION ON SALVIA BLEPHAROCHLAENA AND SALVIACADMICA(M.Sc. Thesis)Erhan SOYGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECNOLOGYJanuary 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, Salvia blepharochlaena and S. cadmica endemic growing plants incentral Anatolia were investigated morphologically, anatomically andkaryogically. Inner and outher morphological properties of these two specieswere defined and compared with the findings in (Turkey and the East AegeanIslands). In anatomical studies, it was determined that, both species had gothomogeneous primary rayses in roots and stems. The leaves of the species wereobserved as isolateral. Surface and glandular hairs were determined in the crosssection from stem, leaf, petiole, flower and pedicel. The hairs types weregrouped in respect of to the numbers of basal, stalk and top cells. Inkaryological studies, the chromosome numbers and morphology of two specieswere determined. Chromosome numbers of two species (Salvia blepharochlaenaand Salvia cadmica) were counted as 2n=14.Science Code : 203.1.016Key Words : Salvia L., Morphology, Anatomy, KaryologyPage Number : 55Adviser : Assist.Prof.Dr.Mustafa ÖZKAN
