The contribution of the journal of Art and Culture Root to the Turkish religious music literature

This thesis aims to revive and analyze the Sanat ve Kültürde Kök magazine, a significant yet overlooked publication from the early 1980s. Despite facing numerous challenges, the magazine offered valuable insights into the Turkish music scene. This study initially explores the biographies of music professionals who contributed articles to the magazine. Subsequently, it delves into the topics and treatment of music-related articles within the publication. A critical evaluation follows, highlighting both the strengths and weaknesses of the magazine's content. The final section discusses incomplete or ambiguous topics, such as the magazine's exploration of Turkish music's historical evolution and the challenges it faced. By examining the Sanat ve Kültürde Kök magazine, this thesis sheds light on a crucial period in Turkish music history and underscores the potential impact of continued publication.
