Relationship of technology acceptance, engagement, satisfaction and play intention in virtual reality

Abstract (EN)
Technology has existed for years with the effect of making our lives easier and more beautiful. While some technologies change the way we live and work, virtual reality technology has the effect of completely changing our lives. This technology, which has become increasingly cheaper and more available in recent years, is considered one of the main application scenarios especially for the gaming industry. Due to its expandable structure, virtual reality games create usage areas and opportunities for different purposes, both for the entertainment sector and for all sectors from state institutions to private institutions. But despite having significant potential, in terms of the sustainable development of virtual reality games, the intention of users to continue playing games has not been studied significantly. In this direction, the main purpose of this study is to reveal the factors that affect the intention of individuals to play virtual reality games, and to examine the relationship between these factors with the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model 2, psychological costumer engagement, success factors and satisfaction. The study group of the research consists of 400 individuals who receive service from five virtual reality game and entertainment centers in Eskişehir and Istanbul. The survey method and descriptive statistics, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling, T-Test and ANOVA Analysis were used in collecting data. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that there are significant relationships between the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2, psychological costumer engagement, psychological costumer engagement and success factors, success factors and satisfaction, satisfaction and behavioral intention. In addition, it has been determined that there are significant differences in virtual reality behaviors of individuals according to demographic variables.
