Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the effect of writing activities organized with virtual reality technology on the writing disposition and motivation of fourth grade primary school students. The study was designed as a quasi-experimental research. Pre-test-post-test unpaired control group design, one of the quasi-experimental research method types, was used. Random sampling was not used. The study group of the research consists of a total of 47 fourth grade students (N=47) studying in a primary school in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya province affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the 2022-2023 academic year. Writing Disposition Scale and Writing Motivation Scale were used as data collection tools. After the data were collected, they were analyzed using the SPSS computer program. After observing that the variables in the study were normally distributed, independent groups t-test and ANCOVA tests were used to analyze the data. According to the findings obtained from the analysis, it was determined that the use of educational content prepared with virtual reality technology in primary school fourth grade Turkish course had a statistically significant positive effect on writing disposition scale total values. In addition, it was observed that the use of educational content prepared with virtual reality technology in primary school fourth grade Turkish course had a statistically significant positive effect on writing motivation. According to these findings, this positive effect is due to the fact that the virtual reality used in the preparation phase of process-based writing instruction contributes positively to the development of fourth grade students' writing dispositions. In this context, this study has contributed to the fields of classroom education, writing education and educational technology as it is the first research conducted so far to reveal the effect of virtual reality technology on writing disposition. In addition, this study has been an innovative study because it is the first study to address the use of virtual reality technology in the preparation iii stage of the writing process. By revealing the effects of virtual reality technology on writing disposition and motivation, this study will contribute to the studies to be carried out for the effective use of new technologies in education and will constitute a starting point and basis for future scientific research in these fields.
