The effect of solution-focused psychoeducation program on the psychological symptoms and cyber-victimization of adolescents who are cyber-bullied

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of solution-focused psychoeducation program on the psychological symptoms, cybervictimization and coping strategies of adolescents who are exposed to cyber bullying. The sample of this study was composed of 674 students from Vocational and Technical High School in Umraniye, Istanbul in the 2015-2016 school year. Data collection instruments are Cyber Victimization Scale, Brief Symptom Inventory (SCL-53) and Demographic Questionnaire. A research group with 28 people was created by drawing lots among students who scored above average from both of the scales. Data were analyzed with SPSS 16.0 using Shapiro Wilk Test, Levene's Test, Independent Samples t-test, Two way analysis of variance (ANOVA) for repeated measures and Bonferroni Multiple Comparison Test. The experimental study has tested the effectiveness of the solution-focused psychoeducation program aiming at reducing psychological symptoms and cybervictimization of adolescents who were exposed to cyber-bullying. The experimental and control groups of 2x3 split-plot design study were composed of 14 participants from high school students and 8 session psychoeducation program was administered to the experimental group. Two factor variance analysis (ANOVA) were used (to implement) and to compare the mean scores of pre-test, post-test and monitor tests. The results of the analysis showed that the psychological symptoms and cyber victimization of experimental group has decreased whereas no significant difference were observed on the psychological symptoms and cyber victimization of control group.
