Abstract (EN)

Technology has been the building block of human development since humanity's first attempts of making tools which started the process of humans' civilization. Since the Upper Paleolithic Period cave paintings which are considered as the first makings of art, both art and technology have had a huge impact on the development of human history. It can be seen that especially the technology which developed with the Industrial Revolution and its effects on the society played a crucial role on the evolution of modern thinking and modern art. Moreover, starting with the second half of the 20th century, it cannot be denied that the computers and digital technology introduced significant changes on the process of making art. The technology which became an essential part of everyday life, not only affected paintings but also traditional arts such as sculpture, graphics and printmaking. At the same time, many art products materialized with digital technologies such as software art, web art, virtual reality, game art, music and sound art caused a change on the conception of how art is perceived and how it is made. Since the first experimental workings of digital art, today's technology moved thought of creating images numerically, making changes on it and transforming it into art to another dimension. With today's technology, experimental efforts on creating a simple line as art advanced into portrait drawings made with the help of robotic arms using artificial intelligence, drawings interactively made in a virtual environment and hologram images. With the help of the exponentially growing and transforming technology, being able to show how digital paintings present new possibilities to the artists is going to allow obtaining new ideas on the development of digital paintings and art.
