During his thirty-year directing career Erten won 31 awards at home and abroad. Almost all his works had repercussions and won critical acclaim. In addition to his directing career, Yücel Erten?s work in the restructuring process of subsidized theaters is quite significant. Having also been General Manager in Turkish State Theateras a result of this attempt, Erten worked as Intendant for İzmit Municipal City Theater in 2001. He also published Devletin Tiyatrosu Olmaz!(mı?) [The State cannot have Theaters (Can it?)] where he tells about the problems of subsidized theaters and possible solutions to these problems.
