"Exaggeration" as form of expression in art

Master thesis titled "Exaggeration as Form of Expression in Art" focuses on exaggeration as a method of artistic expression. The concept of exaggeration appears in many of the works of art produced from the first person to the present day. By examining the examples in the history of art, it is tried to reach the answers to the questions such as the definition of exaggeration, its psychological effect on the audience and what emotions it arouses and what it contributes to the artistic expression. After examining and interpreting the exaggeration of different art disciplines such as sculpture, music, architecture, caricature, literature and painting, the art of ceramics was concentrated; followed by original applications. This study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, the definition and classification of art has been investigated by different theorists. Exaggeration in art works; The elements of the composition are harmony, rhythm, variation, dominance, balance, movement and proportion can be achieved by using. Artists can achieve an exaggerated appearance when they play with proportions, proportions and scales, which play an important role in understanding the work in art works. In this chapter; The definitions of the composition elements are examined, their relations with exaggeration are examined and the effect obtained by deterioration of the ratios is observed and examined on the samples. In the second part, the definitions of exaggeration which is the subject of this research, which is considered as a concrete method in visual arts, is investigated and a new definition is made. It is tried to determine when and how exaggeration, which is a phenomenon that usually impresses and amazes the audience, has emerged from the historical examples; The way of use in artistic applications, the effect it creates and the emotions aroused on the audience were investigated. In this study, it is observed that exaggerated language can be obtained by using metaphor and allegory as a method in all art branches and grotesque approach in plastic arts. The relationship between these concepts and exaggeration was evaluated through examples. In addition, the concept of sublimation in aesthetics has been interpreted aesthetically. An exaggeration involving a method knowledge or a technical orientation; He has created artistic expression language in many fields such as cinema, literature, theater, architecture, music, caricature, painting and sculpture. Exaggeration, which is used as a method, is frequently encountered in artistic practices. The usage of the concept of exaggeration in art disciplines is examined by describing and interpreting the works of different artists. In the art of ceramics, exaggeration can be achieved with scale enlargement, reproduction, use of materials, contributions to the body, illusion, texture, color and glaze. Ceramic artists using these methods are included in their works. In the third part, original artistic applications were made using exaggeration as an artistic expression method and personal comments were reached.
