Interaction in art and pictorial interpretations of film scenes

Although the interaction of art with other disciplines in history dates back to the first ages, this interaction has accelerated with the process of modernization (accompanied by industrialization). From the 20th century to the present, there have been many developments in science and technology. These developments have transformed societies' perspectives, ethics, culture, and art, which is the most essential product of their culture. All technological and scientific developments have enabled art disciplines to interact with each other. Cinema, painting, music, etc., branches of art such as these have gone through the process of interdisciplinary interaction; as a result of these interactions, art has gained a multiple and intricate structure. In this cultural change and transformation environment, the artist's identity did not remain pure but changed. In order to explain the art of cinema within the scope of the thesis, first of all, the Industrial Age and the camera that was invented based on the possibilities of this age were mentioned. This thesis aims to explain the relationship between cinema and the art of painting and make sense of the image, digital manipulations, and video works created based on the movie scenes, thus capturing a unique artistic language. A moment of the scene of the movie under consideration is the fundamental element that shapes the pictures, digital manipulations, and videos. Even if the movie scenes are seen as the main element that directs the creation process, the resulting works create a new whole of meaning. The movie scene was reinterpreted pictorially and appropriated as a new product belonging to another art discipline. The paintings made within the scope of the thesis, as mentioned above, have been shaped by the unity of cinema and painting. Pictures were created by concentrating on a scene that was found remarkable and selected in the watched movie. Thus, an interdisciplinary approach is considered to be adopted. By making use of the unity of the disciplines, 5 pictures were manipulated in the undergraduate period, and 14 pictures and 1 video manipulation were made in the graduate period. The images created are not focused on a single technique. In this process, an original pictorial language has been tried to be created by trying different possibilities and techniques.
