Özet (EN)
This work has been completed at Gazi University Institute of Fine Arts, Painting Department. The main focus of this thesis is, the problems that arose from replication, plagiarism, self attribution and reproduction of individual artwork, in general art history, but especially in the post 1980s era. The researcher has practiced applications in this matter. The area where the post-modern theory and modernism split, portrays the reality and its' perception. Furthermore, it is impossible to define a time frame, especially when the reality spills into the images. In a post-modern world, it appears that everyone uses certain replications, nothing remains real outside of these replications, and one can no longer find anything original to replicate. The post-modern viewers enter a stage of mental tiredness due to the excessive visual effects that they see on the surface, however, they seem to enjoy it. Here, the reality that is being built and the concept that is being generated by the subject, are continuously manipulated by the information technology, and eventually lose their connection to the original creator. The terms; copy, fiction and original has expanded and taken on new meanings such as, simulation, hyper-reality, implosion and eclectic. In this global world, the problems and the lifestyles now appear to be identical, and when you add the unlimited and instantaneous communication opportunities to it, it makes the apprehension for arts appear as they are acts of extraction and technological codes. Choosing from already existing forms, or directly copying an already existing work became the new conceptual escape route for the artists. This research specifically touches base with this new conceptual dilemma. In the work applications, the uses of similar techniques, similar materials and their meanings have also been identified. In addition to this, the exemplary viii individual artwork selections have been made, in order to represent the intellectual, technical and formal conversions in the self-attribution step, due to the fact that this step remains as the first stage of post production. Key Words: Original, citation, copy, simülation, hyperreal, postproduction, appropriation.
