Analysis of children working conditions and abuse outlook in the industrial area

This study has been realised as definitive to analyse the working conditions and abuse status of children in the industrial area. In the study, a questionnaire consisting of 72 questions has been utilised to gather data. The data have been evaluated with the package program SPSS and statistical analysis has been used. Among the individuals included in the scope of the study, 33.3% are 18 years old, 98.4% male, 78.7% graduates of elementary school, 59.8% members of nuclear family and 39.8% have 4-5 siblings of whom 49.4% work. Among the participants it has been determined that 44.2% of their mothers are over 45 years old, 77.5% of the families and 74.3% of the participants do not have any bad habits. 10.4% of the participants stated that they acquired bad habits from friends and street environment. It has been determined that 32.9% of individuals work in mechanics?, 87.6% attended apprenticeship school, 78.7% of whom took 10 hours of course; 58.6% stated that working was an obstacle for education.82.3% of the participants said that they worked 9-12 hours a day, 77.5% did not use their leaves, 74.7% ate one meal and 66.7% were working to learn the profession. It has been established that 68.7% of the participants earn 55-100 TL a week, 57% work overtime, 78.3% do not have health insurance.86.7% of the participants have been determined to be not abused and 85.5% have not been neglected. It has been found out that between age and signing of apprenticeship contract and between education level and daily work hours, there is a complete statistical relationship (p=0.00). Family type and the support of families to the problems of their children, training level of mothers and children?s daily workload reveal a significant statistical relationship (p<0.05). Consequentially, it has been observed that child workers start working under the age defined by law, they leave after the compulsory education to work, working conditions are bad and in most workplaces there is no control. Hence, attention of families and concerned authorities should be drawn.
