Abstract (EN)
The aim of the present research is to find out which joining technique, tenon joint or doweled joint or a combination of the two,, that are most common techniques used in joining the leg-rail öf the chair, is more durable and resistant and which joining technique should be used in which leg-rail. In this direction, beech as the tree and PVA glue as the sticking material which are common in chair production, have been chosen. For each joining type, 10 experimental samples have been prepared and tried out at the Universal test machine. As a result, it has been proven that the doweled joint is more resistant to bending, and that tenon joint is more resistant to pull. As the result of the statistical analyses, it has been found out that doweled joints are the best to be used at the front and back leg-rails of the chair whereas tenon joints are the best to be used in the side seat rails.
