Abstract (EN)

In my thesis on the Iron Age Sculpture in the Şanlıurfa Region, 42 pieces of artifacts, rock paintings and rock reliefs found in the region with Iron Age sculpture characteristics were evaluated. The sculptural artifacts found in the Şanlıurfa Region were identified and dated by making use of various sources. The thesis is intended to shed light on the Iron Age sculpture of the region. Anatolian sculpture is characterized by the mastery and detail of stone carving. The busts of these kings and monumental reliefs bear the traces of Iron Age culture and beliefs. These sculptural works reflect the worldviews and aesthetic networks of the different cultures of the Iron Age. Sculpture from this period is an important source for history and art enthusiasts to understand the lifestyles, beliefs and beauty of these great civilizations. We believe that the limited studies on the subject will be beneficial for Şanlıurfa and other regions in terms of the art of sculpture. In our study, the sculpture works of Şanlıurfa origin in the inventory of various museums and preserved in situ were examined, comparisons and dating studies were carried out by finding similar works. The results of the studies show that the works found in the region are as rich as other regions in terms of both style and ideal depictions.
