Abstract (EN)
The concept of status is that the individual has a position in the context of the culture in which she has grown from past to present. . The status, which appears in two different ways as attributed and earned, gains importance in societies where traditional understanding is dominant. In this context, the concept of status rather expresses the value given to the individual from the perspective of the society and reflects a kind of social identity. Women also have a status in the society they live in, depending on the acculturation process. However, being a woman in societies where cultural codes are common is much more than a biological definition. Although the ages have changed, the perspective of women has not changed easily. Because some societies defined women in the first place. The status of women, which is reflected in folklore and folklore products, also creates the society's perception of masculinity. This perception is based on gender identity in society. Women, as in all areas of life, in transition periods, oral literature products of folk literature (mania, fairy tale, anecdote, etc.), folk beliefs, folk medicine, etc. In short, it is an important part of the culture. The status of the women in the culture in the society they live in, the expectations of the society from women, the perspective of women etc. reflected in folklore products. Although studies on women have been mostly discussed in fields such as sociology, archeology and psychology, it has the feature of being a current topic that has found its place in folklore studies. In this context, qualitative research method was used in the study, and document analysis was performed. At the same time, field studies were carried out in Şanlıurfa center and its districts. In this settlement, the folk culture of the society was researched and the status of women in this culture was discussed.
