Abstract (EN)

In this study, the distribution of Şanlıurfa regional music according to the provinces, the concepts of 'music culture' and 'cultural identity' were tried to be considered. For this purpose, firstly the general characteristics of Turkish Folk Music were mentioned and then it was given information regarding the music, districts, geographical position and socio-cultural structure of Şanlıurfa provinces. Şanlıurfa and its region, which have different regional characteristics in terms of musical culture, are located in Syrian border, have been as an important part of traditional Turkish folk music in terms of having a common border with environment circles and being influenced by neighbour cities and having people belonging to different ethnic and cultural identities. In this context, it is thought that verbal kirik music, one of the few species of Şanlıurfa and its districts, unmetered folk song and belly dance music can reflect the characteristic, melodic and rhythmic behaviors of the province. Culture is a constantly evolving phenomenon, so the findings don't apply to all times, however this thesis will be an important example in the sense of culture analysis because the change is so slow in deep-rooted cultures such as folk culture. In this research, verbal kirik musics which belong to Şanlıurfa and its districts, unmetered folk song and belly dance music were collected from CD recording of THM notes in TRT music house, from the archives of Şanlıurfa Governorship Cultural Publications and all scientific writings and theses that were done in this area were examined. The data obtained were analyzed in the SPSS (16.0) data analysis program, by analyzing with the Şanlı Urfa regional music evaluation scale prepared according to expert opinions and sources and the findings were interpreted and analyzed with the help of graphics.
