Abstract (EN)

Coastal areas are active zone where sea and soil interact each other. Because of this interaction, those areas are assumed as the most changing locations on earth. The subjected changes cause several disasters such as erosion, rising level of water and landing subsidence. Furthermore, active coast usage and human based effects accelerate these affects. Due to it is enrich structure such as creature diversity, rich natural resources and temperate climate, coastal areas and wetland areas have been chosen for accommodation as well as production for the human being in all over the world including Turkey. Following high population increments and economic developments, wetland areas start to get smaller. As a consequence of wetland problems, requirement of sustainable management systems and their implementation raise in importance. Unfortunately, deprivation of these areas is an irremediable mechanism. Therefore, fast made determination and tracking is crucial. Additionally; extraction of coastline, geographic mapping, coastline erosion and coastline traction are essential for management of these resources. In this thesis, automatic extraction of coastline and its efficient management is aimed by using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). Hence, whole significant information about subjected areas will be generated. In line with this aim, a method which uses integrated SAR and LIDAR data has been proposed. The method has been implemented in study area by using SAR data. In the proposed approach, the results from LIDAR and SENTINEL-1A dataset was finding, with differences below 1 pixel (10m) by evaluation with the used reference vector data. In order to evaluate performance of coastline extraction from SAR data, coastline has been obtained by integrating optic images which has lower resolution than LIDAR data have been used.
