Evaluation of two account books of Saraylı Beyhan Sultan (1765-1824)

This thesis study, which was made by examining the 868 and 865 books, consists of five chapters: introduction, three main chapters and conclusion. In the introduction part, the definition of the subject, the purpose of the subject, its scope and limitations, the working method are explained and the resources used in the study are briefly introduced. In the first chapter, the heading "The Life of Beyhan Sultan and A Short History of His Life" consists of four subtitles. First of all, his father, Sultan III, who was the subject of Beyhan Sultan's life. Mustafa, his uncle Sultan Abdülhamit I and his brother Sultan III. Selim and his uncles Sultan IV. Mustafa and Sultan II. Mahmut periods were briefly touched upon. Afterwards, information on the social, cultural and economic development of the period was given. Subsequently, Osmanoğulları family and state tradition were mentioned. Later, the life of Beyhan Sultan was discussed with reference to the chronicles of the period, archive documents and secondary sources. The second chapter is titled "Harem-i Hümayun Treasure and Beyhan Sultan's Expense Books". Here, after giving information about the functioning of the treasury in the Ottoman Empire, Beyhan Sultan's expense books were passed. Information was given about the physical characteristics and contents of the expense books. Beyhan Sultan's properties and income sources, which are the source of his ability to spend so much, are also discussed under this heading. The main title of the third part is "Beyhan Sultan's Palace Life and Daily Life". Under this heading, information was given about the palaces where the women belonging to the dynasty lived, and the coastal palaces and mansions owned by Beyhan Sultan were given. The actual content evaluation of the notebooks was made in this section. The officers serving Beyhan Sultan, his clothing, the decoration of his houses, the construction and repair of his palaces, and the prices of the mentioned products are evaluated in this section. After the conclusion section, a few pages from the expense books numbered 865 and 868 and translation writing have been added to the appendix section.
