Abstract (EN)
In this master thesis study, first of all, a seaweed Sargassum vulgare C. Agardh was collected from Serik region of Antalya, and a dichloromethane-methanol (2:1) extractwas then prepared. From this extract, two compounds were isolated and purified by using chromatographic methods.Structure elucidation of the pure secondary metabolites were made based on spectroscopic methods, mainly 1D and 2NMR and mass techniques including also HR-MS. For the detection of non-polar fatty compounds composition, GC-MS analysis was carried out. Antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of the pure compounds obtained wereinvestigated by in vitro tests.
