Abstract (EN)

With a few exceptions, The history of East Turkestan have been written mainly by the authors of foreign nations that has political and military interests in the region. The main purpose of our study is to make a criticized translation of Mehmet Emin Buğra's "Şarkî Türkistan Tarihi" which is the only book which covers the whole history of East Turkistan written by a native Uyghur. We examine the content, method and scope of the book. In this context, with the the author's manuscript, we examined all the copies published or attributed to the author. The work have been compared with other sources. Despite not fully meeting today's academic criteria, Şarkî Türkistan Tarihi, with reference to as many different sources as possible using the best means available (classical works in Turkish, Arabic and Persian, translations of the works of western authors and Turkish works belonging to the first period of the Republic of Turkey) has a very important place in the history of East Turkistan in terms of its scope, method and content. In addition, being one of the leaders of the national independence movement in the 1930s, he made the part of the history he wrote. This makes the work unique. We believe our work will make significant contributions to the the East Turkestan studies.
