Abstract (EN)

In this study, the population parameters and biology of 2604 Pagellus erythrinus was investigated between January 2006 and November 2007 in Saros Bay.Total length and total weight was ranged between 6.8-27 cm and 4.18-252.14 g, respectively. Mean length and mean weight was determined as 15.7 cm and 53.76 g, respectively. Male-female ratio is 1:4.9.Parameters of lenght-weight relationship was found as a= 0.0119 b= 3.0171 (r= 0.99) for whole population; a= 0.0131, b= 2.9817 (r= 0.98) for females; a= 0.0121, b=3.0096 (r= 0.98) for males; a= 0.0228, b=2.811 r= (0.99) for hermaphrodite individuals, respectively.0-IX age goups were found by using the otoliths for age determination. The von Bertalanffy?s Gowth Parameters for all population were determined, Linf= 37.12 cm, K= 0.1041, t0= -1.85 year. For all fish; total mortality rate, natural mortality rate, fishing mortality rate, exploitation rate, survival rate were (Z) 0,41 , (M) 0,29, (F) 0,12, (E) 0,29, 66% , respectively. The values of GSI was found as minimum in November, maximum in June at both sexes.Key words: Common pandora, Pagellus erythrinus, lenght-weight relationship, age, growth, reproduction
