Abstract (EN)
This research aims to determine the effects of the SCAMPER technique, a guided brainstorming technique, on the impromptu speaking skills and impromptu speaking anxiety of 7th grade secondary school students. Mixed research method was used in the study. The research was conducted on 33 students studying in the 7th grade of a public school in the central district of Adıyaman province. Within the scope of the research, the unprepared speaking skills and speaking anxiety levels of the students were examined by creating a single group and applying pre-test and post-test. In order to strengthen the data of the study, the opinions of the students participating in the study regarding the SCAMPER technique were taken. In order to collect the quantitative data of the study, the speaking skill observation form, the speaking anxiety scale and the observation form to determine the quality of impromptu speech developed by the researcher were used. The study lasted seven weeks. The results showed a significant improvement in speaking skills and a decrease in speaking anxiety in the SCAMPER group. These findings suggest that the SCAMPER technique can be used as an effective method in language education. Based on these results and findings, it can be suggested that the SCAMPER technique can be used in classroom activities, various courses, textbooks, and workshops.
