Suffering of the will and the construction of life in Schopenhauer's thought

In the history of thought, it has been a matter of debate whether man has a will or not. Some philosophers thought of man as a will-powered being, while others thought that man did not have a will. For this reason, whether the will exists or not has become an important problem in the history of thought. The aim of this study is to explain Schopenhauer's ideas, which deals with the issue of will with an unusual approach, his pessimistic view of will and life, and the solutions he offers about life. For this purpose, different sources in the history of thought have been examined so that the subject can be handled in a more understandable way. To this end, the study has sometimes referred to explanatory and descriptive thoughts and sometimes to an imprecise explanatory and narrative. In this study, we can see how the pessimistic view in Schopenhauer's thought can interact with different fields of activity in human life. It has become possible to examine the idea of pleasure and pain, which is one of the basic dynamics of Schopenhauer's thought. Against the idea that life is full of happiness and beauty, Schopenhauer stated that life is full of pain and suffering. Key Words: Suffering, pain, life, will.
