Isrâîliyyât in The Commentary in Saâlibî?s al Jawâhir al Hısân fî Tafsîr al Qur?ân

Abu Zaid Abdurrahman bin Muhammed bin Mahlouf al-Saâlibî, one of the leading person of XV. century Algeria Muslim scholars, was a multi-faceted person who primarily had tafsir works. ?al Jawâhir al Hısân fî Tafsîr al Qur?ân? was the most important one among his ninety books. In this thesis called ?isrâîliyyât?, The Tafsir of Saâlibî named ?al Jawâhir al Hısân fî Tafsîr al Qur?ân? was generally examined, and especially ?isrâîliyyât? topic was focused on.Thesis contents are introduction, three main sections and conclusion.In the introduction, the method and the aim of the research are given.The biography of Saâlibî, his pupils and hodjas, his puplications have been examined in the first section. The book ?al Jawâhir al Hısân?, which we examine in this thesis of Saâlibî, is handled in this section too. In addition to this general knowledge the resources of the book, the steps of writing and publication have been taken into consideration as well. The aspect of Saâlibî to isrâîliyyât has been considered in addition to isrâîliyyât issue in this thesis.In the second section we have offered some information on some prophets such as Hz. Adam, Hz. Noah, Hz. Joseph, Hz. David, Hz. Job, Hz. Moses, Hz. Lot, Hz. Abraham, Hz. Ezra, Hz. Zecheriah, Hz. Solomon ve Hz. Jesus about isrâîliyyât.In the third section, some groups like The tribe of A?âd, The Companions of the Cave, The Companions of the Rass and persons like Balam, Hâbil-Kâbil, The Queen of Sheba, Iram, Korah, Mary, Saba, Saul-Goliath have been mentioned in relation to their comments on isrâîliyyât.The results of the thesis have been evaluated in the conclusion.Keywords: 1) al-Saâlibî, 2) al Jawâhir al Hısân, 3) Isrâîliyyât, 4) Tafsir, 5) Holy Qur?ân
