Abstract (EN)

In infected root canals, microorganisms invade not only the root canal space, but also the isthmus, lateral canals, and dentinal tubules. Despite significant advances in chemomechanical preparation techniques, their complete elimination may not be possible. Therefore, it may be necessary to apply an intracanal medicament such as calcium hydroxide to the root canals between sessions for disinfection in infected root canals. It has been reported that CH should be completely removed from the root canals prior to filling so that it does not adversely affect the adhesion of the canal filling and thus its apical sealing. For this purpose, various irrigation and irrigation activation methods have been proposed. The aim of this study, to evaulate the effect of three different irrigation methods such as conventional syringe irrigation, passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and EDDY to remove two different types of CH from root canals, on the apical sealing of the canal filling made afterwards, with the "Computerized Liquid Filtration" method. As a result, the use of CH resulted in increased microleakage. There was no difference between the CH forms. The least microleakage and closest to the control group which the teeth were not treated with CH, was seen in the EDDY group, followed by the PUI and syringe irrigation group, respectively.
