Özet (EN)

Increased demand for electrical energy, depletion of fossil fuels and the wish for clean energy have recently raised the importance of electrical energy production from renewable energy sources. Wind energy is the most used renewable energy source amongst all renewable energy sources. Wind turbines, used for electrical energy production from wind power, have been developing and problems encountered during the grid connection have also been addressed. In literature, research has mainly focused on problems caused by wind power plants (WPP) and the effect of power system disturbances on the WPP. Studies in this field are continuously growing. In this thesis, analyses for a grid connected operation of WPP are carried out by using MATLAB&Simulink Software. Linear and non-linear loading conditions of such a grid connected system are considered. The effects of switching (on and off) transients on system behavior are exhibited by considering the WPP operated at various wind speeds.Within this concept, a real system is modeled using measured loading of a 380 kV, 174 km long transmission line under ?TUBITAK National Power Quality Project? and using line parameters obtained from TEIAS. In addition to this system, grid parallel operation of a WPP consisting of four 2 MW wind turbines is considered. It is shown that wind speed, load profile and transients (on/off events) have considerable effects on any load supplied through a grid paralleled WPP.
