Literary activities in Seçilmiş Hikâyeler Journal

Periodicals have effectively existed in social order and testified to their periods, during which time they were published in point of various publication policies and activities, by carrying to their pages the life of political, social, cultural and literary in the period. Seçilmiş Hikâyeler Journal that was published by story author Salim Şengil between 1947-July 1957 and reached 113 issues, is a magazine of culture, literary and art. Although Şengil had initially featured only stories in his magazine by means of Memduh Şevket Esendal?s suggestion who was master of story work; afterwards, he transformed the magazine which started to publish as a magazine of type, into a magazine of art-topicality, by evaluating demands of readers who liked the magazine and increasingly became a large group, for change of Seçilmiş Hikâyeler. The magazine have a role too great to be rejected contribution in improvement of Turkish story at the 1950?s, since it made presentation theirselves possible for young aptitude who interested in story art. Besides, Seçilmiş Hikâyeler that collected work of art which was belong to different art comprehension as socialist realist and İkinci Yeni, have also attracted attention with being receptived to newness and development. With this study, we aimed to researh and define literary and cultural activities of Seçilmiş Hikâyeler Journal about which we mentioned its characteristic, in this way, to contribute the researches of the Turkish literature and to explain by means of the magazine that included development level of Turkish literature between 1947-1957, by taking into consideration obtained informations and results. This study consist of three main part. At first part, Seçilmiş Hikâyeler is investigated and explained in terms of published advanture, identity information, principle and politics of publication, literary and cultural activities, author list. At second part, it have occured writings in the magazine by alphabetical and chronological order. It have submitted visual materials and announcements under heatings once more chronologically. At third part, it have submitted intellectual activities of the magazine classifying by subjects. Seçilmiş Hikâyeler have appeared to attaining a state which is a preferable referance for researches of the Turkish Literature because of Turkish stories of 1950 generation. Salim Şengil who was adopted principle of utilitarian for Turkish literature and art, besides he had a approach which advocated changes; whereby he constituted a model for Turkish magazine publishing. It have been provided to becoming important situation for art of story in comparison to other types of art in their times, and also provided to developing and modernization of Turkish stories. Seçilmiş Hikâyeler have proved itself that was strong enough to compete with magazines in the İstanbul, although it published in Ankara; so this is an indication of idea which is possible to reach success by working of tenacity and truth.
