The effect of electric muscle stimulation exercise on lower, upper extremity and core region forces in sedentary women

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this research is to examine whether the 8-week Electrical Muscle Stimulation training will have an effect on the lower, upper extremity and core strengths. Material and Method: The subject group of the study consists of 20 sedentary women, 10 in the experimental group and 10 in the control group, between the ages of 18-30. The subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups, each of 10 people, and the experimental group was subjected to exercise 2 days a week for 8 weeks, while the control group also did the same exercise 2 days a week for 8 weeks without applying EXE. In the other 3 visits after 8 weeks of exercise, the subjects repeated anthropometric measurements according to the type of test they took from the application cards, lower (TAA, TAA, MPA, MTA, MRA and squat), upper (MPU, hand grip, bent arm) and core (V-sit). , shuttle, biering – sorenson). Results: When the anthropometric measurements between the groups were compared, there was a significant difference in the chest, belly, lower belly and hip circumference measurements in the EMS group (p<0.05). In the control group, there was no significant decrease in any of the variables. In the upper extremity tests, while a significant increase was observed in all measurements in the EMS group, only the MPU and bent arm tests increased between the pretest and the posttest in the control group (p<0.05). In the lower extremity tests of the EMS group, there was a significant increase in TAA, right UAA, right MRA and squat tests among all measurements, while a significant increase was observed in the difference between only the first test and the last test in the left UAA, CCT and MMU tests (p<0.05). When the core tests were evaluated, V-sit in the EMS group, bie.sor. In the control group, an increase was observed in V-sit and biering sorenson tests, while an increase in the shuttle test was not observed at a significant level (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result of our research, it was observed that EMS exercise gave more effective results in anthropometric measurements compared to the control group. In some strength tests of the upper extremity, lower extremity and core region, it was observed that the strength increased in all measurements in the EMS group, but the increase in strength in the control group was only between the pretest and the posttest and it was not as much as the EMS group.
