569- SUMMARYThe purpose of this study was to compare the oxidative stress and antioxidantlevels of the sedentary and endurance athletes after maximal and submaximalexercise. In this study, total of 20 men subjects who voluntarily participated (10sedentary university students and 10 endurance athletes). Mean Max VO2 capacitywas 69.50 ml/kg/min and mean age was 19.30 yrs old for endurance athletes andrespectfully 34,15 ml/kg/min and 19.70 yrs old for sedanters.Max VO2 levels of subjects were determined by Bruce Protocol. The subjectsperformed their submaximal exercises with intensity of 70% of Max VO2 during30 minute period. Maximal exercises with intensity of 100% of Max VO2 wereexecuted until they were exhausted. Blood samples of subjects were collectedbefore and after exercise to analyse plasma Malondialdehit (MDA), Totalsülfhidril group (RSH) and Nitric oxide (NOx) levels.SPSS 11.5 for Windowsstatistic packet programme was used to analyse the results. The results wereanalysed by using Paired samples-t test for evaluating among the group itself andIndependent Samples-t test for evaluating between different groups. Thesignificance level of analyses were accepted at P<0.001 and P<0.05.The results indicated that there were no significant differences among levels ofMDA, RSH and NOx parameters between pre-submaximal and post-submaximalexercise in endurance athletes and sedanters. Only there was significant differencethe level of RSH parameter between pre-submaximal and post-submaximalexercise for sedanters. Before and after maximal exercise, MDA and NOx levelswere found significantly different for sedentary and endurance subjects (P<0.05).There were also significant differences in both groups before and after exercise ofMDA and NOx levels when compared with eachother (P<0.001). Also, there weresignificant differences among BMI scores (P<0,05), MaxVO2 capacity, KAHrestand KAHmax of the endurance athletes and sedanters (P<0,001).Consequently, submaximal exercise could be healthy practice for humans;however, maximal exercise could trigger occurring of free radicals. This could beevidenced by increases in lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress during maximal57execise. Thus, the intensity of exercise could be very important to definition of theaccumulation of free radicals for sedanters and endurance athletes.
