Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Postoperative Life Quality of Femur Segmental Shaft Fractures Objectives :The aim of this study is to determine the quality of life values and radiological evaluation after surgical treatment applied to the segmental fractures of the middle diaphysis region of the femur. Material and Method: We retrospectively evaluated the radiographic findings of 29 patients who underwent surgery in the Orthopedics and Traumatology clinic of University of Manisa Celal Bayar, Hafsa Sultan Hospital between January 2006 and December 2016 with the diagnosis of femur mid diaphyseal segmental fracture. Patients were asked to do the SF-36 and EQ-5D questionnaires. Results: 25 of the patients were male and 4 were female. The mean age was 38 ± 12,28 (18-65). Mean follow-up was 4.62 ± 2.69 years (2-11 years). 69% of the fractures were the result of traffic accidents. The mean modified RUST score was 13.69. Conclusion: Approximately half of the patients had other accompanying extremity fractures as fractures of the femur segmental shaft occurrs as a result of high-energy traumas. it was concluded that humerus fractures were the most adversely affecting quality of life among these fractures. it was concluded that humerus fractures had the most negative effect on the quality of life among these fractures. It was concluded that the implant type did not affect the quality of life. Patients with a high RUST score also had higher quality of life. While the quality of life results in female patients are similar to the average of the population, especially in men, the SF-36 physical role parameter was found to be low. In general, the quality of life in patients operated on for segmental femur fractures is low enough to cause loss of labor, especially in male patients.
