Abstract (EN)
Khalīl Aḥmad Sahāranpūrī (d 1346/1927) was a prominent hadith scholars of 20 th. century in India. Proving himself in all Islamic sciences came to the fore in the science of hadith. Sahāranpūrī dedicated his life to the science of hadith, was known in the Islamic world for his commentary on Sunan-ı Abū Dāwūd the most studied and annotated hadith books after Bukhārī and Muslim. This commentary called Badhl al-Majhūd fī Ḥalli Sunan-ı Abū Dāwūd is the subject of our dissertation and carried out get to know Sahāranpūrī and to introduce him and his work. Our dissertation consists of an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion. In order to know the scientific value of the work whose commentary method is studied, the journey of the emergence of the work, the writing process information about the subject purpose and the method of the thesis and its introduction are made in the introduction section. First chapter provides information about the political structure, social, religious life, scientific and cultural status of the period the author lived, scientific personality, works and the aspect of hadith, fiqh and Sufism of Badhl al-Majhūd's author Sahāranpūrī are discussed in detail as well. In the second chapter, the sources of Badhl al-Majhūd introduced and classified; information regarding the expressions Sahāranpūrī used while transmitting from these sources and to what extent he utilized them were stated. Also, the structural features of the commentary method of Sahāranpūrī were tried to be explained with examples of how he commented on the hadiths.
