Abstract (EN)

A total of 12 orthopedically disabled individuals, 9 men, and 3 women, who went to Ankara Iller Bank Special Education Center and 75th Year Special Education Center, participated in this research, which was conducted to examine the effects of eight-week darts training on orthopedically disabled individuals' socialization and participation in sports. As a data collection tool within the scope of the research; the socialization scale in sports and motivation to participate in sports scale were used. Socialization in sports scale, consisting of 35 items and a 5-point Likert type, was developed by Şahan (2007). The motivation to participate in sports scale was developed by Gill, Gross, and Huddleston (1983), and validity and reliability studies were conducted in 2001 by Oyar, Aşçı, Çelebi, and Mülazımoğlu. In this study, in which eight-week darts training was given to orthopedically disabled individuals participating in the research, a single-group pre-test post-test model was used as the research model. SPSS 26 program was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. Demographic characteristics of the participants are presented in a table. The skewness and kurtosis values were examined with the Shapiro-Wilk test, which is used to obtain more reliable results in small samples in determining whether the data are normally distributed or not. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution. In the analysis of the data, dependent groups t-test was used to compare the pre-test and post-test scores of the participants. As a result of this research, which was conducted to examine the effects of eight-week darts training on socialization and participation in sports of orthopedically disabled individuals; after eight weeks of dart training, the motivation of individuals with orthopedic disabilities to participate in sports; was determined that there were differences in the sub-dimensions of team spirit, physical fitness, entertainment, friend, competition, movement-activity and skill development. In addition to these differences, it was concluded that the socialization levels of orthopedically disabled individuals increased. Based on this result, it is thought that it contributes to the development of the social environment of orthopedically disabled individuals through sports and enables the development of communication skills.
