Procalcitonin prognosis of secondary peritonitis, CRP and place of thyroid hormones

Abstract (EN)

Objective: Procalcitonin is a 116 amino-acid glycopeptide precursor to the hormone calcitonin. In recent years, procalcitonin specific bacterial infections, viral infections and systemic inflammatory response syndrome, affected by a new feature is notable for being indicator. Thyroid hormone levels drop significantly, the prognosis of sepsis and severe bacterial infections encouraging about the idea. Secondary peritonitis, the diagnosis and prognosis of this study, we procalcitonin, CRP, and aimed to replace thyroid hormones.Materials and Methods: Between January 2007-January 2010, Çukurova university medical school in general surgery was performed on 84 patients are operated on for secondary peritonitis. Preoperative and postoperative days are 1-3-5-7-14 CRP, procalcitonin and thyroid hormone levels were examined. The data were analyzed using SPSS 15.0 program.Results: Our study developed postoperative complications in patients with and without CRP, PCT, and thyroid hormone levels compared with preoperative patients with peptic ulcer perforation PCT (p=0.043), postoperative Day 3 T4 (p=0.003), postoperative PCT 3rd day (p=0.019), postoperative Day 5 T4 (p=0.031), postoperative Day 5 PCT (p=0.031), PCT postoperative 7th day (p=0.013), postoperative patients with small bowel perforation day1 T3 (p=0.025 ), postoperative 1st day of TSH (p=0.031), postoperative 7th day T4 (p=0.027), postoperative Day 14 T3 (p=0.028), postoperative PCT Day 14 (p=0.050), postoperative patients with colon perforation 1st day of TSH (p=0.035), PCT postoperative 5th day (p=0.015), postoperative 7th day T3 (p=0.009) values between patients without complications istatiktisel significant complication.Our study of patients discharged from the hospital and who died of CRP, PCT, and thyroid hormone levels of patients with perforated peptic ulcer, as shown in the table comparing the postoperative 3rd day T4 (p=0.002), postoperative PCT 3rd day (p=0.010), postoperative 5th day T4 (p=0.039), postoperative 7th day T4 (p=0.019), preoperative patients with small bowel perforation T3 (p=0.042), postoperative day1 T3 (p=0.026), postoperative Day 3 T4 (p=0.012) , postoperative Day 3 of CRP (p=0.036), postoperative 7th day T4 (p=0.023), postoperative patients with colon perforation 1st day of TSH (p=0.020), postoperative 3rd day of TSH (p=0.006) values and discharged Among patients who died istatistical significant.Conclusion: Procalcitonin is not affected by an inflammatory response to infection and to respond more quickly to be superior to existing parameters of infection say it.
