Seksüel siklusun farkli dönemlerindeki köpeklerde kan progesteron ve 17ß-östradiol seviyelerinin RIA ve ECLIA yöntemleriyle araştirilmasi

In the present study, it was aimed to compare the serum progesterone and 17ß-estradiol levels detected by RIA and ECLIA and to investigate the accuracy of ECLIA method to measure serum progesterone and 17ß-estradiol levels in 25 bitches. Bitches were weighing between 10-30 kg, at various phases of sexual cycle and from different breeds. The vaginal cytological staining was used to determine the phases of oestrus cycles. The correlation between the levels of progesterone and 17ß-estradiol detected by RIA ve ECLIA was analyzed statistically.The percentage of animals (n:25) in anoestrus, prooestrus, estrous or dioestrus was 60, 16, 16 and 8%, respectively. In the present study, it was observed that the serum progesterone level detected by RIA and ECLIA was similiar and significant statistically (p<0.001; r = 0.998). Moreover, the similarity between the level of 17ß-estradiol detected by RIA and ECLIA was siginificant stitistically (p<0.001; r = 0.098).In conclusion, it is suggested that ECLIA method has a value for measuring progesterone and 17ß-estradiol in bitches as far as RIA method, however ECLIA is more practical than RIA due to its short testing time.Keywords: Progesterone,17ß-estradiol, RIA, ECLIA, bitch
