Selahattin Adil Pasha (1882-1961)

This study endeavors to uncover the life of Selahattin Adil who was forgotten over time although he had an important persona affecting the course of history. He witnessed or took active part in many significant events that affected the Turkish history. Hence, having known his significance for Turkish history, I have tried to relate his life story by taking the historical context into account.Uncovering his military life is very significant in that he partook in many important military events such as Çanakkale and Sakarya battles. Also, he performed as the commander during the armistice period in Istanbul.After his retirement, he made commerce. He established a representative firm for foreign companies.He established a chess association in Istanbul.He founded the first Turkish cable factory and he operated a mining venture.He entered politics as a deputy of Democrat Party; however, he could not be successful in that party because of the ongoing disagreements and he resigned.The main aim of this study is to remind the life a forgotten hero and to reveal historical facts.
