Abstract (EN)
In addition to stone and brick, which are the main materials of Seljuk architectural structures, floral, figured, geometric and calligraphic tiles and mosaic tiles were used as decorative elements. These tiles give architectural buildings a high level of aesthetic appreciation and visual richness. With the adoption of the Islamic religion and the culture of life by the Seljuk State, tile tiles were used as decorative elements in the architecture, especially in religious buildings, which were built in many parts of Anatolia. Within the scope of this study, literature review has been made and by examining the originals of the tiles that have survived to the present day in museums and structures, the materials used in their production and the techniques of tile production are briefly mentioned. In addition, the use of tiles with geometric ornamental motifs in contemporary tile design was investigated and these motifs were designed in accordance with contemporary tile production technology. In this study is aimed to produce geometric tile motifs in accordance with contemporary ceramic art design principles and to inspire young generation artists too.
