Entry rituals in semitic religions

Initiation is considered as one of the most important phenomena of spiritual life, as it provides the individual with a status in which he/she can be included in religious life, either by accepting a new religion or by being obliged to existing religion. Initiation paves the way for an individual to become a part of religious life, join the human community and become a responsible member of society in all respects by learning the community's mythological and cultural traditions. The initiation rituals the first examplesof which we encountered in primitive societies, continued to exist in different periods and in different ways in every period of history, and over time, its place in social values has lost its relative influence, but its esence and purpose have always remained the same. In this study, which aims to analyze the initiation rituals in semitic religions, examples of initiation primitive tribes and pre-modern societies were also included in order to reveal o collective view of initiation. In Judaism, the cşrcumcission (brit milah) performed as an entrance ritüal to Judaism, and the bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah ceremonies, which enable individuals to be ressponsible for some obligations in religious life, are considered as initiation rituals. The baptism, which is performed fort he purpose of entering the christian religion, and the evharistiya (communion) and confirmation applied for the responsibility of being a Christian are the initiation rituals in Christianity. In İslam religion, there is no from of initiation in a ritual sense. In İslam acceptance to religion is provided by believing and expresing it, while in religious life, obligation is acgieved by reaching the age of buberty.
