Development of sympathetic violence awareness scale and investigation of the effect of sympathetic violence awareness education program on sympathetic violence awareness gains of families

This study was conducted to develop the sympathetic violence awareness scale and to examine the effect of the sympathetic violence awareness education program on sympathetic violence awareness gains of families. The screening method was used in the development of the "Sympathetic Violence Awareness Scale". The validity and reliability study of the scale was conducted with mothers of children attending official and private preschool education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Alanya district of Antalya province. Within the scope of validity; content validity and construct validity analyses, and Cronbach Alpha and test-retest analyses were conducted for reliability. As a result of the findings obtained; it was determined that the "Sympathetic Violence Awareness Scale" consisting of four sub-dimensions and 21 items is a valid and reliable measurement tool in determining mothers' sympathetic violence awareness gains. "Examination of the effect of sympathetic violence awareness training program on families' sympathetic violence awareness gains" was determined with a pre-test-post-test and control group experimental design. The study group consisted of a total of 30 mothers, 15 mothers in the experimental group and 15 mothers in the control group. In order to reveal the effect of the sympathetic violence awareness training program on families' sympathetic violence awareness gains, the "Sympathetic Violence Awareness Training Program" prepared by the researcher was applied to the mothers. Data were collected with the "Sympathetic Violence Awareness Scale" developed by the researcher. In order to examine the effect of the sympathetic violence awareness training program on families' sympathetic violence awareness gains; Mann Whitney U, Friedman and Wilcoxon test analyses were conducted. It has been determined that the "Sympathetic Violence Awareness Training Program" is effective in mothers' sympathetic violence awareness gains and that this effect is permanent. In line with these results; recommendations for mothers, educators and researchers are presented.
