Abstract (EN)

Shams al-dīn al-Samarqandī is the first scholar to adopt the method of philosophical theology in the Hanafi-Mâturîdî kalam tradition. He was born in Samarkand, produced many works in various fields and died in 722 h. This study, in which we examine the relationship between theology and philosophy in the context of ontology and epistemology in the sample of Samarqandī, consists of introduction, conclusion and three chapters: In the introduction part, besides the subject, importance, purpose, method and sources of the research, information is given on the life and scientific personality of Samarqandī, the relationship between theology and philosophy, the ontology of theology and the epistemology of theology. In the first chapter, general ontological concepts and theories about existence, essence, available and problems related to these concepts are examined in the perspective of Samarqandī. In the second chapter, under the title of symptom, Samarkandī's views on epistemology, theoretical physics, morality and logical categories are analyzed. In the third chapter, the views of Samarkandī on physical and spiritual substances, al-jawhar al-fard and psychology were evaluated. In the conclusion chapter, the relation between theology and philosophy in the context of ontology and epistemology in Samarkandī is revealed.
